The Pie Hole
A few years ago, I acquired a laser engraving machine of my own. I had been experimenting with my husband's laser engraver, and was fascinated by the endless possibilities.
When friends of mine opened a specialty pie shop in the greater Los Angeles area, they gave me the opportunity to create their branded products, signs, etc. I created and engraved the pie boxes and signage. I engraved their branded merchandise, such as the pie spatula, espresso tamper, and keg pull.

One of my favorite experiences creating branded items for The Pie Hole was creating the table number stands - 50 table number stands for each of several stores.
I designed the table number stands themselves, and took the design to a local sheet metal shop, who cut and bent the aluminum blanks. I then sanded and prepped the pieces to smooth the edges and surfaces for anodizing. The local anodizing company plated the blue on the aluminum blanks. Once I had the anodized aluminum blanks back at my home shop, I laser engraved each piece. In this application, the laser etches away the plating to reveal the logo as the original aluminum, rather than engraving into the surface of the metal. |
